A Brief History of Our
Congregation-Colonial
Heights began as a merger between
three United Presbyterian
congregations. Holt Chinese, First United Presbyterian (itself a
merger of
1st, 3rd & the Italian United), and Mizpah
Presbyterian Churches shared a new venture in1961 with
the
chartering of CHPC, and in1962 the building at SE Stephens &
28th was built. We treasure the heritage of these
predecessor congregations who cherished fine music, offered a
welcome to all people, earnestly supported mission, and nurtured
children. Connected to and appreciative of our
past, we are
a church of the present seeking God's leading here and now.
The last Sunday of each month we host a welcome lunch for all
visitors and share a tour of the building along with a more
extensive history of the church and its mission and ministry
today. Please join us any time!
